Operating System Requirements
HPE Container Platform runs on the following versions of the 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS operating systems:
- 7.4 (minimum kernel version for a fresh HPE Container Platform installation is 7.4(3.10.0-693)
- 7.6 (If you are upgrading to HPE Container Platform from a previous version that is running on RHEL/CentOS 7.3(3.10.0-514.el7.x86_64) or earlier, then you must upgrade the OS to 7.6, 7.5, or 7.4 with the minimal kernel required (3.10.0-693). Please see Upgrading from Prior Versions.)
- 7.7 (Recommended for a fresh HPE Container Platform installation.)
RHEL systems must have active valid subscriptions in order to access the RHEL RPM repositories. You may view the full list of RPM repositories here (link opens an external website in a new browser tab/window).
Use the standard OS kernel; modifications may cause HPE Container Platform to function unpredictably. Further, the IPv6 module should be enabled on the OS. Container Platform does not require IPv6 addresses or use the IPv6 infrastructure; however, enabling this module will help avoid runtime errors and warnings.
HPE STRONGLY RECOMMENDS INSTALLING Container Platform ON DEDICATED HOSTS WITH CLEAN OS INSTALLATIONS ON THEM. INSTALLING CONTAINER PLATFORM ON HOSTS WITH OTHER RUNNING APPLICATIONS CAN CAUSE UNPREDICTABLE BEHAVIOR.
TO ENSURE OS HAS LATEST PACKAGES, IT IS RECOMMENDED TO DO A "yum update" BEFORE INSTALLING HPE CONTAINER PLATFORM.
The supported umask
values, are 022, 027, or 077.
Console and SSH access to either the root account or a non-root user account with sudo privileges is required. See Restricted Sudo Requirements.
